Instructions for Entering
Desserts in the Festival

One way to support PPAU and the Logan Health Center is to make and donate a dessert either for the Open Contest, Youth/Families, or Premier Showcase.

You’ll enter an “auction” version of the dessert that will be sold to the highest bidder, and you’ll also provide plenty of tasting samples of the dessert that volunteers will serve to Festival attendees.

There’s something for everyone

The Open Contest is for anyone who wants a chocolate challenge or to share a tried and true treat in support of PPAU. Youth/Families features entrants under 16 working alone or with friends or family. The Premier Showcase is a new feature that’s described in more detail below.

How and when to register your entry

Advance dessert registration via our online form is highly encouraged, will help us with planning and will expedite check-in on Saturday afternoon. The first 15 dessert makers to register in advance will also receive a special gift

Please start and submit a Dessert Registration Form as soon as you decide to enter/donate a dessert for the Chocolate Festival.  You may re-open and complete the form with final details or change any of the information up to the time you deliver your dessert on Saturday. Further instructions are within the form so check it out at the link below.

For Open Contest and Youth/Families entrants who prefer a hard copy, you may download a form below for walk-in registration on Saturday. Premier Showcase entries are limited and require advance registration and consultation with a committee member. More Premier Showcase information is provided below.

Delivering your Entry: Please be on time

Entries must be delivered to the event venue before 3:30 p.m.

Between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m., before the festival opens to the public, judges will evaluate Open Contest and Youth/Families entries, rating them for appearance/presentation, taste, texture, and creative use of chocolate. They will select a winner in each category and an overall winner for the Open Contest Grand Prize.

During the evening, you’ll be able to watch people taste your dessert and then bid on it in the Silent Dessert Auction. And if it wins its category, the Grand Prize or People’s Choice, you’ll receive a prize and then watch as people bid on your dessert in the Live Auction.

Premier Showcase Entries

The Premier Showcase was introduced in 2020, transforming the “professional” category into a new feature where pastry chefs, chocolatiers, restaurateurs, caterers, community groups, or any supportive business can show off their creative chocolate talents as well as their business, cause or theme.

We want the Premier Showcase to inspire and recognize the extra effort, whether serious or fun, that’s become a mainstay of so many Chocolate Festivals, to the enduring delight of the crowd.

Premier Showcase space is limited, thus, advance registration and consultation with a committee member are required. Click below to learn more.
